How about \u201cNew Year, BETTER me&#8221;? And aiming to get better physically, mentally, emotionally?<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s talk about how we can &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/promotions\/raise-the-bar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raise the bar<\/a>&#8221; in our relationships! Check out these five tips about how to make your <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/healthy-worklife-makeover\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relationships<\/a> with those who surround you stronger and better this year.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong>1. Be selfish and focus on YOU.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Sounds pretty crazy right? You\u2019re probably asking yourself, \u201cHow can I improve my relationships by focusing on just myself?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Growing up many of us were taught that being &#8220;selfish&#8221; by putting ourselves first shouldn&#8217;t be our primary priority. So it becomes natural to put your <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/do-you-really-want-to-be-an-entrepreneur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">career<\/a>, your spouse, your kids, and your daily responsibilities all before <em>you<\/em>. Everyone else\u2019s needs must be met before you can focus on making yourself happy, right?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s ditch that thought! I\u2019m not saying you need to forget about your career or family. But let\u2019s carve out some YOU time. Whether that\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/new-promos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">45-minute workout<\/a> with your Burn sisters or going for a nice, relaxing walk to clear your head, find ways to make it happen! The positive <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/10-healthy-sleeping-tips-staying-energized\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energy<\/a> that you gain from this will be contagious and spread to all your loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>So the next time you begin scheduling your week or month, be sure to add in your YOU time. Treat it just like you would a business meeting or children&#8217;s&#8217; activity that you&#8217;d never miss&#8211;it&#8217;s THAT important!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2. Be emotionally fit.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Have you ever had a rough day at <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/5-ways-raise-bar-work-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">work<\/a> and unintentionally took it out on your <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/10-tips-feeling-happier-healthier-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">family<\/a> or friends? Let\u2019s be honest, this even happens to the best of us.<\/p>\n<p>Create a <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/id1341039790\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mindset<\/a> of leaving everything at the door. Some days, this is so much easier said than done. When this happens, sit in your car, think about an answer to your unanswered solution, be grateful for what you DO have, and focus on being positive with whatever you have coming next in your day!&nbsp;A little bit of gratitude goes a LONG way in getting our day and ourselves back on the right <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/get-back-track-formula\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">track<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>3. Understand the value of time.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As the Josh Turner country song goes, &#8220;time is love.&#8221; Time is the most valuable thing on Earth, so don\u2019t waste it! Especially with your loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>One question you should ask yourself is, \u201cWhat if this was the last time I\u2019d ever see this person&#8230;what type of <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/project-90-be-kind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impact<\/a> would I leave on them?\u201d This may sound a bit extreme, but it creates a sense of urgency and makes your time feel priceless!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4. Don&#8217;t just hear\u2014listen.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When your family members, coworkers, or friends are talking to you, are you truly listening to them or are you just hearing them while you continue to work or scroll through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/burnbootcamp\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Do your relationships a favor and <a href=\"https:\/\/burnbootcamp.com\/disconnect-and-reflect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unplug<\/a> when they need you! When a friend or loved one is talking to you, forget about the outside world for five minutes, make eye contact, and listen to what they have to say. It\u2019ll make a world of difference for the effectiveness of the communication in your relationships.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>5. Appreciate those around you, and make it well known.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Take five seconds out of your hectic day to say two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6nO_FQTr3Iw&amp;t=2s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">powerful<\/a> words&#8230;&#8221;thank you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so easy to go through the motions of life and take those little things others do for us for granted.&nbsp; Show your gratefulness for them every day and they will do the same for you.
